Naming

Stable Names
When you complete the tutorial to begin playing Flying for Home, you are asked to select a stable name. If at any time you decide you want to change your stable name, you can change do so from the Account Settings page, via the gear icon located on the right side of the screen underneath your name and avatar. Stable name changes are unlimited and free.
Stable Naming Rules
There are a few rules you should be aware of when it comes to choosing your stable's name. If you are found to be in violation of any of these rules, your stable name may be reset and you may be subject to a warning for repeated offenses. 1.You cannot use a famous farm’s name, either real or fictional. 2. Inappropriate names are not allowed. This includes sexual references/innuendos, drug references, profanity, and inappropriate/abusive language. 3. You are not allowed to use numbers, symbols, accented letters, or emojis.This includes the use of dashes or hyphens (-). Apostrophes (') are acceptable where grammatically appropriate. 4. You must use standard capitalization rules (only the first letter of each word should be capitalized). 5. Your stable name must be unique. This means it cannot be the same name anyone else on FFH is currently using.
Horse Names
If the horse has not been named yet, you will need to click the Name Horse button on your horse's main page. If the horse is already named, you will have to go to the Care page and look for the Change Name button. changing the horse name from their main profile changing the horse name from their Care page Not all horses can be renamed. If a horse meets any of the following criteria, you will be unable to rename it. 1). The name you have selected has already been given to another horse. 2. The name has been locked. 3. The horse has started in 5 or more races. 4. The horse has won a graded stakes race. 5. The horse is 6 years or older. 6. The horse is retired.
Horse Naming Rules
As with stable names, there are a few rules you must follow when naming your horses. If you are found to be in violation of these rules, your horse's name will be reset and you may be subject to a warning for repeated offenses. 1). You cannot use a famous horses' name, including Olympic contestants, real life major stakes winners, or names from well-recognized fictional works. 2). Inappropriate names are not allowed. This includes sexual innuendos, drug references, profanity, and inappropriate/abusive language. 3). Names may not include numbers, symbols, accented letters, or emojis. Apostrophes (') are acceptable where grammatically appropriate. (Numbers are allowed in temporary yearling names, but a horse cannot be raced until they have received a 'registered' name using one of the methods listed above.) 4). You must use standard capitalization rules (first letter of each word only). 5). *Your horse's name must be* unique.** This means it cannot be a name used by any other active horse on FFH. Duplicate names are only allowed in cases where the name has been released by the original owner. 6). Names are limited to 25 characters. 7). The use of unofficial prefixes/suffixes/brands is prohibited. Prefixes are considered anything that is a string of random letters which might otherwise be used as a registered prefix on FFH. For example: ZC is a prefix for Zadie Creek Stables and SMF is a prefix for Stone Manor Farm. If you'd like to give your horses an official prefix you will be able to do so once you earn the breeding skill to register bred horses under a prefix.
Prefixes
Once you earn the appropriate skill (Breeding Skill 1), you'll be able to register a prefix for your stable and attach it to all horses you breed. You do this on your Stable Settings page. There are a few guidelines to follow when creating your prefix. 1). A prefix can contain 1-5 letters. It may not include any of the following: • numbers • symbols • accented letters • emojis 2). Your prefix must be unique. This means it cannot be a prefix already registered by another stable on Flying for Home. Your prefix will automatically be set to all capital letters. You do not need to type this prefix into horse names. Instead, you can apply it by using the Register button found on a horse's Care page. This button will show up once you have the appropriate skill. Registered names lock automatically upon sale of the horse. Please note that to register a horse, the horse must be named (the names that yearlings are given automatically - dam name and year of birth - do not count as appropriate names.) It does not cost anything to register horses. Only the breeder can register a horse.
Releasing Horse Names
If you go to the Name Registry located on the left side of your stable page, you will see a list of all of the horses’ names that are currently eligible for you to release. By releasing the name, you are giving up the name to be reused by anyone within the game. This helps keep naming options open as FFH continues to grow. Once released, the name can be reused by anyone other than the original breeder of the horse. In other words, if ZC releases the name of ZC Orbit, someone else could name their horse Orbit, but ZC could not. This is to ensure that prefixes remain unique with names, serving as a way to differentiate between same-name horses. You also receive $100,000 FFH Dollars for releasing a name.
Requirements for Release
In order to qualify for a name release, a horse must meet all of the following requirements. 1). The horse must be pensioned. 2). The horse must not have earned any awards other than a Genetic Merit or Genetic Distinction. 3). The horse must be registered with a prefix (if stallion/mare). 4). The horse must have no offspring younger than 10 years old.

HT mares will earn 1 bonus foal slot, meaning they always retire with at least 2 slots. A bonus slot is also earned for placing top 5 in a series race, rather than top 3.

Anyone with Business Skill 6 may now create Stallion Spotlight ads by clicking the button in Stud Services. These ads randomly display when Genotype Search or Stud Book is loaded. Relevant SIP, Grade, and other icons will be added to spotlights at a later date.

Players without therapeutic equipment may now post job requests for Hot Walk or Hydrotherapy rehab to help horses recover quicker. These jobs can be found on the main job board and may be completed by anyone who owns the appropriate therapeutic equipment.

A bug with gelding horses who have Moderate/Strong Geldability has been fixed. As a result, geldings 2-4 years old who are still owned by their breeder may have improved stats. If they are already entered in races you may scratch them and enter in an appropriate grade, but you will not be penalized for Handily with any of these geldings this meet.

The Golden Apple Orchard is open for a temporary broodmare and racing dispersal. Horses relinquished through dispersal do not earn Golden Apples. The dispersal will be open through March.

A new Producer Quality descriptor, Cursed, has been added to differentiate stallions who have the absolute worst PQ, much like Legendary distinguishes those who have the absolute best. No changes have been made to any horse's PQ - this is only a change in descriptive word.

When a horse receives a Handily note, their Minimum Grade in Race Preferences will automatically bump up to the appropriate grade. This is not locked and you may later adjust it if it's not appropriate for the horse.

Due to the server problems experienced on July 3rd, we had to start a fresh database for both messages/notifications and bank transactions. This means you can no longer see anything prior to the 'reset' of that information. At this time, it doesn't look like the old data will be recoverable, but we will continue looking into it and will bring the old information back as some sort of archive if/when possible. Thanks for your patience and understanding as we've worked to resolve these issues!
