Naming

Stable Names
When you complete the tutorial to begin playing Flying for Home, you are asked to select a stable name. If at any time you decide you no longer like your stable name, you can change it from on the Account Settings page located on the left side of your Stable Profile. Stable name changes are unlimited and free, so you'll never be suck with a name that no longer suits you.
Stable Naming Rules
There are a few rules you should be aware of when it comes to choosing your stable's name. If you are found to be in violation of any of these rules, your stable name may be reset and you may be subject to a warning.

You cannot use a famous farm’s name - either real or fictional.

Inappropriate names are not allowed. This includes sexual references/innuendos, drug references, profanity, and abusive language.

You are not allowed to use numbers, symbols, accented letters, or emojis. Apostrophes (') are acceptable where grammatically appropriate.

You must use standard capitalization rules (first letter of each word only).

Your stable name must be unique. This means it cannot be the same name anyone else on FFH is currently using.
Horse Names
If the horse has not been named by you or another player, you will need to click the Name Horse button on your horse's main page. If the horse is already named, such as a yearling or a horse bred or owned by someone else, you will have to go to the Manage page and look for the Change Name button.

Not all horses can be renamed. If a horse meets any of the following 5 criteria, you will be unable to change its name.

1. The name you have selected has already been given to another horse.
2. The breeder has chosen to lock the horse's name.
3. The horse has started in 5 or more races.
4. The horse has won a graded stakes race.
5. The horse is retired.
Horse Naming Rules
As with stable names, there are a few rules you must follow when naming your horses. If you are found to be in violation of these rules, your horse's name will be reset and you may be subject to a warning.

You cannot use a famous horses' name, including Olympic contestants, major stakes-winning Thoroughbreds, or names from well-recognized fictional works.

Inappropriate names are not allowed. This includes sexual references/innuendos, drug references, profanity, and abusive language.

Names may not include numbers, symbols, accented letters, or emojis. Apostrophes (') are acceptable where grammatically appropriate. (Numbers are allowed in yearling names, but a horse cannot be raced until they have received a proper name.)

You must use standard capitalization rules (first letter of each word only).

Your horse's name must be unique. This means it cannot be a name used by any other active horse on FFH. Duplicate names are allowed in cases where the name has been released.

Names are limited to 18 characters.

The use of fake prefixes/suffixes/brands is prohibited. If you'd like to give your horses a prefix, you must wait until you have the skill which allows you to do so.
Prefixes
Once you earn the appropriate skill, you'll be able to register a prefix for your stable and attach it to all horses you breed. You do this on your Stable Settings page. There are a few guidelines to follow when creating your prefix.

A prefix can contain 1-5 letters. It may not include numbers, symbols, accented letters, or emojis. It will automatically be set to all capital letters.

Your prefix must be unique. This means it cannot be a prefix already registered by another stable on Flying for Home.

You do not need to type this prefix into horse names. Instead, you can apply it by using the Register button found on a horse's Manage page. This button will show up once you have the appropriate skill.
Releasing Horse Names
If you go to the Name Registry located on the left side of your stable page, you will see a list of all of the horses’ names that are currently eligible for you to release.

By releasing the name, you are giving up the name to be reused by anyone within the game. This helps keep naming options open as FFH continues to grow. Once released, the name can be reused by anyone other than the original breeder of the horse. In other words, if ZC releases the name of ZC Orbit, someone else could name their horse Orbit, but ZC could not. This is to ensure that prefixes remain unique with names, serving as a way to differentiate between same-name horses.

You also receive $100,000 in FFH Dollars for releasing the name.
Requirements for Release
In order to qualify for a name release, a horse must meet all of the following requirements.

1. The horse must be pensioned.
2. The horse must not have earned any awards other than a Genetic Merit or Genetic Distinction.
3. The horse must be registered with a prefix (if stallion/mare).
4. The horse must have no offspring younger than 10 years old.

We've been tweaking some economy balance things the past couple of weeks. These changes include adjustments to: tack prices, ultrasound & mare check-up fees, breeding pass suggested values & raffle cost, partnership payback, blood range costs (for Savvy & up), and suggested stud fees. There might be a few other little things here and there. All relevant pages (excluding Handbook) should reflect current updated costs/values.

Experience and Well Rested no longer show on horse pages. This is not vital information to know and over-complicates racing for the majority of players. While similar 'personality' traits will still impact races to some degree, this is not something you need to worry about when entering races.

Rusty Recycler can now be fed every 15 minutes! For now, this change comes with no changes to how fast your meter fills or how often you receive Rumpled Packages. We hope this makes it easier for less active players to earn shiny rewards from Rusty. <3

Gelding now has an additional incentive! You will receive a monetary reward any time you geld a horse, provided he is not pensioned and, if retired, has at least 5 foal slots remaining, although their bonus will be reduced if they have less than 10 slots remaining. Gelding also rewards an additional $2,000,000 bonus to their base reward for each Select Sale parent.
