|What are entry pools?
Unlike normal races, series races are open to unlimited entries. Entry pools run to narrow down the field to the best 20 entries. Any horse who does not make the cut in a series race will be scratched and can be entered in an alternate race if you wish.
This system ensures that series races are never 'first come first serve', no matter how many players wish to enter horses into them. Instead, it rewards those who enter on time and have horses that have been successful throughout the year.
|When do entry pools run?
Entry pools always run at 12:00 noon (FFH time) the day before rollover. In a normal week, entry pools close at 12:00 noon on Wednesday and Saturday. Any deviation from this schedule will be noted in news posts.
Although you should make every effort to enter horses before the pools run, you may still enter unfilled (less than 20 entry) series races up to the normal rollover time. Entering after pools have ran charges you a penalty of 3 times the normal entry fee. There is no way to enter filled races after pools have ran.
|How do horses secure entry?
The first criteria entry pools consider is Stellar wins. Horses with the most Stellar wins earn entry first, followed by horses with less or no Stellar wins.
If there are still slots available in the race after considering Stellar winners (or if there is a tie between number of Stellar wins), the pool will give preference to highest yearly PR. Horses will be admitted entry from best to worst PR until 20 entries are found.
If there are still slots available in the race after all horses with recorded PRs for the year have been entered, horses with no starts (thus no PR), will be chosen randomly until the race is filled.
There are a couple of exceptions to the above system. Horses who place top 3 in any Trinity, Timber Tournament, Crusader's Challenge, or Elemental Seniority race will be guaranteed entry into the 2nd/3rd legs of the series that year. You may also use an All Access Pass (rarely available) shoot your horse to the top of the pool list and guarantee their entry.
|What happens if my horse doesn't make the cut?
|If a series race had more than 20 entries and your horse doesn't make it in, you'll receive a private message (PM). Your horse will be scratched and your entry fee will be refunded. As noted above, you can then choose to enter your horse in a different race for the meet or do something else with them entirely. If any other series races didn't fill, you could even swap them to a different division or region.
