Bloodstock can earn awards based on the racing and/or breeding success of their offspring. Both stallions and mares are eligible for these awards and a symbol will show by their names in pedigrees as well as on their page.
A Superior Stallion is earned when a stallion has offspring win 10 or more series races. A Superior Broodmare is earned when a broodmare has offspring win 5 or more series races. More information about series races can be found on the Series Races
Winning a full Trinity will only count as three series races (three race wins). But will read on the Progeny Statistics as 3 (1) for the Sire or Dam, indicating that 3 individual Trinity races were won as well as 1 series sweep. This number will increase with every individual Series winner and Sweep winner the Sire or Dam may have. The same applies to winning a full Timber Tournament, Crusader's Challenge, or Elemental Seniority (three race wins + winning the sweep).
Horses who earn the Superior achievement will receive a special sheet as well as a reward of 100 PC. Horses with 25% or less Select lineage will also receive a bonus of 50 PC when they earn Superior Stallion/Broodmare awards.
EMM mares who earn the Superior achievement will earn 200 PC total.
Seal of Pedigree
Seal of Pedigree is earned through building a strong pedigree which contributes to the foal potential of future generations. A horse will earn a Seal of Pedigree if they have a grandfoal AFP of at least 40. Stallions must have at least 40 grandfoals and mares need at least 20 grandfoals to be eligible. You will receive a Confetti Crumblycake for achieving this award. You will receive a Silver Token for achieving this award with an EMM mare.
Broodmares now eligible for two unique awards! A mare can become a Distinctive Broodmare if her foals collectively earn 250 points and a Star Broodmare if they earn 500. You will receive 50 PC for both Distinctive and Star Broodmare achievements. Broodmares will receive a bonus of 25 PC if they have 25% or less Select lineage. EMM mares will receive 100 PC for both achievements.
Stallion Incentive Program
One type of award which is only available to stallions is the Stallion Incentive Program (SIP). A stallion is eligible for SIP enrollment if his Average Foal Potential (AFP) meets a certain requirement with a specific number of foals on the ground. SIP status is often used as a measure of quality in stallions. The rewards for SIP enrollment include more foal slots and increased stud fees as well as decreased listing fees. Detailed information on eligibility and rewards can be found on the SIP page.
Genetic Merit & Genetic Distinction
A Genetic Merit (GM) is an award that is based on a horse's genes. It takes into consideration genes such as Performance, Heritage, Stat genes, and some hidden breeding factors. It does not look at genes that are not inherited such as Fertility and Male Probability.
You might find that many horses with nice genes will now earn a Genetic Merit. However, it is important to keep in mind that a GM is not a reflection of a horse's producer quality and even a horse with a GM can max low.
Genetic Distinction (GD) is also based on a horse's genes. However, where quite a few horses may earn a GM, not a lot of horses will earn a GD. A GD is a level above GM and indicates better genes than a GM. GD is fairly rare and harder to earn than GM.
Genetic Merit and Genetic Distinction both award a medal to hang around your horse's neck. A Genetic Merit has a silver medal while a Genetic Distinction has a gold medal.
It is generally advised to always test your horses to see if they are eligible to earn a GM or a GD. It is free and easy to test either from the horse's Genetics page or by visiting the Genetic Merit page under Breeding.
