|All good things must end, and eventually your breeding horses will not be able to be bred anymore. The limits here on FFH are much, much lower than realistic numbers (especially for stallions), but the limits are in place to prevent an overpopulation of horses on the site, which would lead to many unwanted horses and a major shift in the way the grade scale works.
Your horses’ foal limits, also called foal slots, can be viewed on their Breeding Information pages and also on the Mare Services or Stud Services pages found in the Breeding tab.
|All mares bred by a player start with 1 foal slot and mares from the Horse Trader start with 2 foal slots. They can earn additional foal slots, up to a maximum of 3, for racing and showing accomplishments. Each awards 1 bonus foal slot and may only be earned once, even if a mare achieves it more than once.
Bonus slots are awarded for:
• Performance Merit
• Performance Distinction
• Color Merit (may be earned after retirement)
• Driving Trial, Steeplechase, or Contesting Minor
• Placing top 5 in a series race
You may add additional slots to these mares, up to a maximum total of 5 foals, if items (Legacy and Robin's Nest) are used.
Custom Goldblood and Import mares are created with 5 slots and cannot be increased further. Select Sale mares start with 7 slots and cannot increase further.
Legacy and Robin's Nests can be used to help mares reach their maximum foal limit, however they are ineligible to be used on mares 20 years and older. It's important to note that Legacy can only be used once in a Mare's lifetime, while Robin's Nests can only be used after Legacy has been used.
Stallions who are bred by players or purchased from the Horse Trader always born or created without foal slots and must earn their foal slots based upon points earned during their career. All Stallions are limited to a maximum of 30 foal slots
Upon retirement, slots are rewarded as follows:
Appaloosa stallions earn 5 bonus slots.
50 Racing or Color Show Points awards 5 foal slots.
100 Racing Points/Performance Merit awards 15 foal slots.
Custom Goldblood, Import, and Select Sale stallions are always awarded foal slots upon retirement, regardless of points. Select Sale stallions always start with 20 foal slots. Custom Goldblood and Import stallions are awarded 5 foal slots if they retire with less than 50 racing or color show points.
Legacy can be used to add 3 additional slots, up to a maximum of 25 total slots. A Victor's Blade may also be used to increase his foal limit by 5, up to a maximum of 30 total slots. Legacy may only be used once, while Victor's Blades may be used multiple times. Neither can be used on stallions 20 years or older.
Finally, stallions who have not hit the maximum number of foal slots may also earn up to 14 bonus slots through being accepted into the Stallion Incentive Program (SIP). More information on SIP can be found on its page.
In addition to foal slots, Stallions also can have up to 4 AI Straws. AI Straws do not affect their foal limit, but must be taken before the stallion is 20 years old. Players can access the AI Lab through the Veterinarian on the Services tab. However, AI Straws cannot be used until a Stallion hits their foal limit or is pensioned.
|All horses are rewarded free Legacy for earning a Performance Distinction (250 points). Horses who win the Crusader's Challenge are awarded a Victor's Blade. Also if a son of an Extreme Makeover Mare makes any level of SIP players are awarded a Victor's Blade.|
