Racing Points

What are Racing Points?
Racing points, usually just referred to as points, are what horses earn when they place well in graded stakes races (G1/G2/G3) and/or run high Performance Ratings (PRs). The higher the grade of race and the higher the PR, the more points a horse has a chance to earn. Series races (such as Trinities, Gems, and Gold Cups) reward the highest amount of points of any race.
New Player Milestones
Earning your first few points from racing can be exciting! It's a sign your horses are racing well and is something to celebrate. New players also receive FFH$ rewards as they reach point milestones along the way to their first 100 points.

Milestone Reward
5 points $250,000
10 points $500,000
25 points $1,000,000
50 points $2,000,000
100 points $4,000,000

Benefits of Points
Stud Eligibility
All colts (who are not created Goldbloods, Imports, or Select Sale) must earn at least 50 points to be eligible to stand at stud (including breeding to your own mares). For this reason, it's especially critical that you focus on entering colts in races where they can earn points.

Furthermore, stallions earn 5 foal slots once they reach 50 racing points. If stallions retire before earning 50 points, even if they're eligible to stand publicly, they will not start with any slots and items will have to be used. Stallions earn additional foal slots if they retire with at least 100 points, which also earns them a Performance Merit.
Foal Boosts
Stallions and mares who have earned points have a chance to pass small boosts to the stats of their offspring. Foals have a chance to receive a boost to their stats if either or both parents earned any points, based on amount of points earned. This boost is guaranteed if either or both parents earned at least 100 points. Foals will receive a larger boost if either or both parents earned 250 or more points.

Additionally, horses that earn a Steeplechase or Driving Minor (50 points) or Major (100 points) will give a small boost to their foals' transitioned stats. These points must be earned in either Steeplechase or Driving to count towards a Major or Minor award, and all their points throughout their career will count towards Performance Merit or Performance Distinction.
Appendix Horses
Appendix horses become full stock (Paint or Quarter Horses) once they have reached 25 points. In doing so, they lose their 'Appendix' designation. This is the only way, other than using a Pedigree Purifier, to ensure their foals are not also registered as Appendix.
Points Earned By PR
The bulk of a horse's points are earned based upon the PR they run in races. The higher the PR, the more points they can earn. The score required to earn points varies based upon age according to the chart below.

Points Earned Per Grade
Horses earn variable points depending upon the grade of race they enter and how they place in the race. Those points are listed in the table below. Note that these points are earned in addition to points earned for their PR.
